Walking in Honour of Our Dad
For World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September), we're taking part in Out of the Shadows, walking for the nine Australians who lose their lives to suicide every single day.
For us, this walk is so much more than just raising money.
On 22 November 2025, our lives changed forever when we lost our beautiful dad to suicide. He was only 44 years old.
Dad was the most loving, kind, compassionate and strong man we knew. He was an incredible digger driver, a car fanatic, and a talented basketball player. He had the most infectious personality and a unique sense of humour that could make anyone laugh. He lit up every room he walked into, and people naturally gravitated towards him.
But above all else, Dad was an incredible father. He was patient, selfless and endlessly loving. He was always there when we needed him, always putting others before himself, no matter what he was carrying inside. He taught us what it meant to work hard, love deeply and always look after the people around you.
The hole Dad has left in our hearts can never be filled. His absence is felt every single day, and there isn't a moment that goes by where we don't wish he was still here. The grief of losing someone to suicide is something no family should ever have to endure.
We're sharing Dad's story because we hope it can help save someone else's life.
We never want another person to feel like suicide is their only option, and we never want another family to experience the unimaginable heartbreak and pain that ours has.
Every donation to Lifeline helps provide crisis support, suicide prevention services and hope to people when they need it most. We hope this fundraiser helps bridge the gap between someone struggling in silence and the support that could change—or even save—their life.
If our walk, our story, or your donation helps even one person reach out instead of giving up, then every step we take will have been worth it.
Thank you for supporting us as we walk in honour of our Dad, and in memory of every life lost to suicide.
Together, we can help ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
Our impact so far
