This September, Lifeline New England North West invites you to take part in the Out of the Shadows Walk 2026. A powerful community event held in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.

Every day in Australia, we lose 9 lives to suicide. To remember them, we walk 9KM - one for each life lost. We walk to show support for Australians experiencing emotional distress or mental illness, and shine a light on suicide prevention in our community.

While World Suicide Prevention Day is officially on September 10, you’re encouraged to walk anytime, anywhere that works for you.

Looking for a bigger challenge? You can also walk 63km over a week (average of 9km per day). Set your intention when you register.

Join a movement of hope, remembrance, and action. Whether you walk alone, with friends, or as part of a team, you’ll be standing with a community united in the fight to prevent suicide.
