Walk with Us. Shine a Light. Save Lives.

This September, Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter invites you to take part in the Out of the Shadows Walk 2025—a powerful community event held in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.

Every day in Australia, we lose 9 lives to suicide. To honour them, we walk 9 kilometres—one for each life lost. While World Suicide Prevention Day is officially on September 10, you’re encouraged to walk anytime, anywhere that works for you OR join our community walk at Dixon Park Beach, see details below.

Join a movement of hope, remembrance, and action. Whether you walk alone, with friends, or as part of a team, you’ll be standing with a community united in the fight to prevent suicide.

Your steps—and your support—can save lives. Every dollar you raise helps Lifeline provide critical, life-saving support to those in crisis. And when you raise $39 or more, you’ll receive a free Out of the Shadows t-shirt to wear proudly as a symbol of your advocacy.

Together, we can bring suicide out of the shadows and into the light.

ANNOUNCEMENT! Community walk in Newcastle

We are excited to share that we will once again be hosting a Newcastle Community Walk.

Feel part of a community who are connected through their desire to advocate for suicide prevention in our local community this World Suicide Prevention Day.

We will walk together to remember loved ones and encourage Australians in crisis come out of the shadows and into the light, by showing there is a community that cares.

If you choose to fundraise for Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter, every dollar you raise helps to train more crisis supporters in the Hunter to answer calls that save lives.

Newcastle Community Walk

Date // Wednesday, 10th September 2025

Location // Dixon Park Beach to Merewether Baths (return)

Time // Short formalities from 6am, followed by walk

Distance // The community walk is an accessible 1.6km walk on a pathed surface suitable for wheelchairs and prams. Dogs are welcome to join but must be on leash. You are welcome to continue on to complete your chosen distance if you would like to walk further.

A BBQ breakfast will be provided thanks to Lions, and a coffee available for purchase from on-site coffee van.
