This September, Lifeline Northern NSW invites you to take part in the Out of the Shadows Walk 2026. A powerful community event held in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day.

Every day in Australia, we lose 9 lives to suicide. To remember them, we walk 9KM - one for each life lost. We walk to show support for Australians experiencing emotional distress or mental illness, and shine a light on suicide prevention in our community.

While World Suicide Prevention Day is officially on September 10, you’re encouraged to walk anytime, anywhere that works for you.

Looking for a bigger challenge? You can also walk 63km over a week (average of 9km per day). Set your intention when you register.

Join a movement of hope, remembrance, and action. Whether you walk alone, with friends, or as part of a team, you’ll be standing with a community united in the fight to prevent suicide.

Your steps and your support can change lives. Every dollar you raise helps Lifeline Northern NSW provide critical, life-saving support to those in crisis. And when you raise $39 or more, you’ll receive a free Out of the Shadows t-shirt to wear proudly as a symbol of your advocacy.
