Breaking the cycle
Today, my sister and I are walking for two very important people — our dads.
We both lost our fathers to suicide, and it's a pain neither of us ever imagined we'd have to understand.
Losing someone this way leaves behind so many unanswered questions, so many what ifs, and so many moments where you would give anything just to hear their voice or hug them one more time.
But today, we don't want to remember our dads simply for how their lives ended. We want to remember them for how they lived.
For their laughs, their personalities, the memories they gave us, and most importantly, for being our dads.
We're walking today not only for them, but for every person who is silently struggling.
If you're going through something and you feel like the world would be better without you, please know that your absence would leave a space that nobody else could ever fill.
There are two daughters standing here today who would give anything to have their dads back.
So please talk to someone. Reach out. Ask for help. You don't have to fight your darkest moments alone.
My sister and I can't change what happened to our dads, but we can carry their memories forward and use our voices in the hope that another family doesn't have to experience this pain.
Today we walk for our dads. We walk for those we've lost. We walk for those still fighting And most importantly we walk for hope
this one's for you Dad We love you we miss you, and we carry you with us every step of the way 🩷
