Walk for Hope 🙏🕯

Last year I lost my brother Steve.

Regrettably we were estranged so I didn't know of his dreadful circumstances until too late.

In the many months before his death he lost his financial support and was living with no money for food, rent or bills. He became desperately unwell, isolated and deeply depressed. 

At one point, Steve wrote that he hadn't eaten for nine days and was feeling very weak. He lost an enormous amount of weight and had lost all hope. He also wrote "Last drinks & smoko, Love Steve X"

He eventually died alone. 😪

Whilst his medical cause of death is undetermined, I believe his tragic demise shows why suicide prevention, mental-health support and early intervention matter enormously. 

I'm walking 9 kilometres for my brother Steve and all those suffering in silence. 😔💜

My goal is to raise $400 for Lifeline so they can provide suicide prevention and crisis support. This will cover Lifeline Calls for 10 people in desperate need.

I am sorry to hear you and your family lost your brother to mental health reasons. Good on you for walking and helping raise awareness as so much is needed to help today's society. Mental Health is a serious issue and it needs to be talked about more and more so as pelple understand and don't ignore or judge.
