I'm walking for my close family friend who lost his life to suicide and for 18 year old me.
In 2014 I tried to take my own life. This is not known unless you’re close to me, and while I’m not ashamed of it it’s not something thats talked about. I was struggling with losing my dad when I was younger, moving from my home I grew up in with the friends I loved, to Sydney with new people who weren’t as accepting, new school and just new everything. Trying to cope with the changes, just added to the depression I was already deep in. Then I left school, made new friends who accepted me, got my first job, had a best friend who was always there for me and everything was looking good. Fast forward, my best friend died. And I was deep in the Pitt of depression again. I got my first boyfriend who was physically abusive and the weight became too much. I quit my job and cut myself off from everyone. So there was only what I thought.. one option left. Although I’m so grateful that I didn’t succeed, it was a rough period of my life to go through. There were people in my corner. Even tho I felt totally alone, I wasn’t. I never want someone to go through that and that’s why I’m walking the 63km to raise funds, awareness and let others know they’re not walking alone. I would have been 18 if i succeeded. Today I’m 30, have 2 beautiful kids, and keep the ones I love close to me. So help me help others. Thank you ❤️My impact so far
