I'm walking to remember Lachie

In 2024 I experienced losing the life of an old friend, Lachie. Losing a friend was a very hard intake on my life. But losing them to suicide was even harder and a real big eye opener. People are told in life to check up on the happiness people but experiencing losing a person that made your day, made your smile and made you live what having a pure friendship is like, is something u don’t expect.

Lachie and I were friends around the years 2020-2022 and when we were friends we were very close. Him and I eventually grew apart because of the distance between us. But still in that couple of years he found a way to make a big a big impact on my life.

I started struggling with my mental health and went down a deep hole of doing regrettable things on a regular basis because i thought my life was going to end soon. I spoke out about how I was feeling and responded that I didn’t want to talk to anyone and Lachie messaged me telling me to talk to him, I didn’t respond.

A week or a couple later I got the message that Lachie had commited suicide. Having to experience the greif knowing that if I replied i could have helped him and maybe kept him here while also struggling with my own mental health was unbearable. Especially with someone that you thought would never even think about harming themselves.

After the incident happened it changed my life and I decided to turn the way I lived around and move forward with in my life because I could not change what happened no matter the grief I have felt even though till this day the ache in my heart still lingers around.

I’m walking for Lachie and every other person like him that struggles in silence and share my story aswell as Lachie to prove that it does get better.
