I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. 

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year. 

This fundraiser is incredibly personal to me.

After losing my son, life changed in ways I never could have imagined. Grief has been overwhelming and there have been times when simply getting through the day has felt like a struggle.

I've had to reach out for help myself. I've had moments when I needed someone to listen, someone to sit with me through the darkness and someone to remind me I don't have to face it alone..........That is when Lifeline helped me.

I became one of those statistics - one of the many Australians who have reached out to Lifeline during time of crisis.

But I want to help turn those statistics into stories of people who reached out, were heard and found a way through. That takes STRENGTH times a zillion!!

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for not only the 9 people lost to suicide every day, but for the 9 people that need to be heard.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.
