DAY 3 - For the men

πŸ’™Day 3. For the men. πŸ’™

Don’t harden up, be gentle.Β

Don’t push through, rest.Β

Speak up, tell someone.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15–44.

The most recent 2024 figures show that more than one in four deaths among 15–24-year-olds and one in five deaths among 25–44-year-olds were suicides.

Wishing you all good health today. πŸ’™

I’m walking 9km a day for the 9 lives lost to suicide every day.

#lifeline #mentalhealth #outoftheshadows #suicideawarness #63kms

You can get through the darkness.

This September I’m walking 63km to raise money for Lifeline.Β

I’m one of those people that’s hardly ever been unwell in my body, I’m strong as an ox and I’m easily fit as a fiddle. I’d be considered a strong person!Β

But my mental health, well that’s been my Achilles heel. It’s a tightrope walk of daily choices that can be the difference between thriving and devastation.Β

When I stop taking care of my health and stop listening to my body, my passions and my hearts desires, I become unwell. When I tell my husband I’m not feeling well, and it might only happen for a day or two or at worst a week, I say β€˜I’m not well in my brain. It’s broken. I need to rest to fix it.’

I swim in the ocean, I walk, I jump, I dance, I listen to music, I be kind to myself. I speak to my doctor, I might review my medication (this post is coming), I get back out there and out the gloves back on. πŸ₯Š

Sometimes you have to fight to push through! But there’s always a light, and it’s so bright when you come out of the fog.Β

Please stay tuned over the next few weeks while I can hopefully share and upskill us all in mental health awareness.

There is so much to say about mental health, but most importantly, it can be treated. We can all be well, but not on our own, and not if we stay quiet.Β

I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

I’m walking 9km a day for 6 days to help people out of the shadows and know they are not alone.Β

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide.Β

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.

Please support my walk and sponsor me to help those in crisis.

Together, we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

My impact so far

I've raised $2,555 so far to answer 65 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.

With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
