OUT OF THE SHADOWS — 9KM FOR SUICIDE AWARENESS 🖤🦋
On 10 September, I’ll be walking 9km as part of the Out of the Shadows walk for suicide awareness.
I’m not doing this walk simply to raise awareness. I’m doing it because I’m a survivor.
I know what it feels like to be in the darkest place—to believe the pain is too heavy, the silence too loud, and the shadows impossible to escape.
But I’m still here.
That fact carries meaning. It represents the strength it took to keep going, even when I could only manage one moment, one breath, or one step at a time.
Every kilometre of this walk will carry a piece of that journey. Each step will represent survival, healing, hope, and the distance I’ve travelled from the place I once thought I couldn’t leave. It will be a reminder that even the smallest step forward still matters—and that being here is something worth honouring.
I’ll be walking for myself, for my survival, and for every person still fighting battles others cannot see. For anyone standing in the shadows and wondering whether there is a way through: you are not alone, and your story is not over.
9km. One step at a time. Out of the shadows, towards hope, and into the light. 🦋
I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide.
Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.
Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.
For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.
I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.
Please support my walk and sponsor me to help those in crisis.
Together, we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
My impact so far
I've raised $44 so far to answer 1 call for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.
With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
