I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. 

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.

Hello 👋🏼 my name is Jelena, I know what it’s like to feel hopeless, to get up day after day and feel like life has nothing to offer, I have faced the darkness and the storm, thank you to lifeline time and time again for making me come out of the shadows and find myself time and time again. 

I’m remembering myself in those darkest of times but I’m also remember loved ones personally who have tried to come out of the shadows but sadly got sucked in and lives were taken 🥺

I am also sadly remember that there are many peoples stories which have ended because of this awful disease. 😢

I’m remembering our loved ones, fathers who taught us, mothers who have raised us, brothers who protected us, sisters who were our best friends, best friends who were our siblings and anyone else who we simply just knew and read about in the papers. 🌈

You will ALL be remembered and I will be documenting everything, sharing a photo how many kms I’ve done and showing you the finish line. 🏁
