Walking this Saturday September 11th @ 10am - Montagu Bay Reserve
Looking forward to walking 9km this Saturday in the beautiful spring sun down here in Hobart. For those joining, meet at 10am at Montagu Bay Reserve for a cruisy 9km loop around the east side of the bay. For those in Melbourne and afar, hopefully your weather is as good as ours! I am saddened to share that my beautiful cousin Carl Lucarelli completed suicide this past week at the far too young age of 21. Carl was a kind and gentle young man just entering the prime of his life who I learnt has been living with depression for some time. My condolences go out to his parents Domenic and Marietta and his siblings Maximo and Emily. From now on, we will be walking for Carl as well as my mum, and all those that have lost loved ones to suicide. Hey everyone,
Thank you for supporting my 4th annual Out of the Shadows walk.
Each year, over 3000 people in Australia complete suicide, and in 2023 my mum was one of those. In honour of her and everyone else affected by suicide, I will be walking 9km on the weekend of World Suicide Prevention Day (September the 10th) - that's 1km for every person that loses their life each day.
For those that are in Hobart, we will be walking 9km on the morning of Saturday September 12th - time and location TBD. For those in Melbourne and beyond, I would love for you to walk in solidarity at the same time!
I have been blessed by everyone's generosity these last 3 years to have raised over $8,000 towards this worthy cause. That's more than 200 calls to Lifeline funded, and potentially that number of lives saved.
To be honest, as amazing as that is, I think that taking a couple of hours out of a busy weekend to get outside and chat about mental health is worth so much more than that.
I would love to see as many of you as possible walking with me on the day, and if you have something to spare towards my fundraiser as well, I would be extremely grateful.
