I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
This year, I will be taking part in the Out of the Shadows Walk again, walking 63km to honour the 9 Australians we lose to suicide every single day.
Behind every statistic is a person - someone’s daughter, son, partner, sibling, parent, friend or loved one. Every life lost leaves an inmeasurable impact on the people left behind.
More than 3,000 Australians lose their lives to suicide each year. While these numbers can feel overwhelming, I believe that creating space for conversations about mental health, reaching out when we’re struggling, and reminding people that they don’t have to face difficult moments alone can make a difference.
Through this walk, my goal is to raise funds for Lifeline’s suicide prevention services, helping provide vital support to people when they need it most. I also hope to help break down some of the stigma and silence that can surround mental health and suicide.
If you’re able to, I would be grateful if you could support my fundraising with a donation: https://www.outoftheshadowswalk.org.au/fundraisers/sarahdaunt
And if you aren’t able to donate, sharing this post, checking in on someone you love, or simply helping keep the conversation going is just as meaningful.
Together, we can help ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
Take care of yourself, and check in on your people 💙
