I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Tomorrow marks one year since we lost my dad.

It honestly doesn't feel possible that a whole year has passed. Grief has a way of changing you, and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I miss his presence, his laugh, and all the moments we never got to have.

Losing someone to mental illness is something no family should ever have to experience. In his honour, and in memory of every person taken far too soon, I'll be taking part in Out of the Shadows for World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.

Every day in Australia, 9 people lose their lives to suicide. Each year, more than 65,000 Australians attempt suicide, and over 3,000 people die by suicide. Behind every number is a person who was deeply loved, and a family forever changed.

That's why I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline, whose services provide hope and support to over a million Australians reaching out in crisis each year.
