Jordan Cuff

"In honour of Jordan Cuff, whose incredible warmth and love continue to light up the lives of everyone who knew him. Jordan was a bright, unforgettable presence who brought an overwhelming amount of love into my life and into the lives of so many others. In 2021, Jordan lost his painful, courageously fought battle with mental health as he navigated a new chapter of his life and his identity within the LGBTQIA+ community. Not a single day goes by where I don't remember him, miss him, and carry his memory with me. I’m participating in this walk for Lifeline for World Suicide Prevention Day to honour Jordan’s beautiful legacy and keep his light shining. I walk so that anyone struggling in silence, figuring out who they are, or feeling overwhelmed in their darkest moment knows they are seen, supported, and never have to face the darkness alone. Forever loved, forever remembered, and always in my heart. 💜 "

- Jack Drury

Tess pearce

"In memory of my beautiful daughter, Tessie. Tessie was one of those rare people who made the world gentler simply by being in it. Despite the challenges she faced living with cerebral palsy, she lived with extraordinary determination, compassion and joy. She was studying Social Welfare because she wanted to help others, and she had an incredible ability to listen without judgement, see the good in people and make them feel valued. Tessie loved music, loved to dance and had a wicked sense of humour. She also had enormous courage. After six months of training, she left her electric wheelchair to complete a 6km walk in a walking frame, raising more than $15,000 for Lifeline. But her greatest gift wasn’t what she achieved. It was who she was. She taught me more about kindness, acceptance and unconditional love than anyone ever could. I miss my beautiful girl beyond words. Through this fundraiser, I hope a little of the love and goodness Tessie brought into this world can continue. For you, Tessie. My daughter, my greatest love, and forever a part of me. 💜"

Erynn

"I hope you know that you’re not alone, even on the darkest days. We all have moments where things feel overwhelming and scary, especially when we feel like we have to face everything by ourselves. But please remember that there is always hope, and things really can get better. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. Take your time, breathe, and process things in whatever way you need to. Just keep going, one day at a time 🤍"

- Erynn Gould

In Honour of My Friend Bentley & All Those Workers Who Risk Their Lives

"This 63 km run is dedicated to a dear friend I lost to suicide, and to all the brave workers who put their lives at risk every day to provide for their families and contribute to the lives we have today. He worked as an offshore diver on oil platforms. He was one of those people who had to put on that heavy equipment, enter dangerous environments and go deep underwater, knowing the risks involved in the work he did. This run is a tribute to him, and to every worker who faces danger as part of their job — divers, offshore workers, miners, emergency workers, and so many others whose courage and sacrifices often go unseen. For my friend, and for everyone who puts their safety on the line so that others can live, work and build their lives. You are remembered. You are valued. And your life matters."

- Amanda Nonato

Carmel and Louise

"17 years and 1 day ago I lost two beautiful souls. My Mum and Sister within a 24 time period. Yes my Mum and then my Sister heard the news and already wasn’t too far off feeling that way herself. The news tipped her over to the point of no return. Both were very brave, thoughtful, kind and caring. It’s taken its toll on me in many ways and teared the family even further apart. So my heart goes out to every survivor of a loved one to suicide. Forever remembered and infinite angels 🕊️"

- Kirri

For Everyone

"For those who struggle in silence; you are important, you are one of a kind, you are loved, you matter, and may you never feel alone. There are still bright days ahead of you and things to discover. Keep Holding on. "

Telisha

"Telisha I love and miss you so much."

- Ella

Rensly

"The day I got that call was the worst day of my life. You will never be forgotten. I will always miss you, and I’ll carry your memory with me always. This 10K is for you. For your memory. For your life. For the person you were and the impact you left behind. I love you, and I miss you more than words can say. This is for you, always. 🕊️"

- -M

Lloyd (Dad)

"26 years ago my life was turned upside down when my mum told me dad had died by suicide. I was 18, it was the year 2000. My family didn't show emotions, therapy was used as a threat, suicide was anxiety word. I had no support. It changed me forever. I was mad at my dad, and guilty because I was the one who spoke to him last. As an adult I now empathise with what he must have been going though. My partner has been close to suicide before, he has taught me his side, and he says I have shown him that loved ones are not better off without you. I know my dad called Lifeline a few times during his struggles and I am forever grateful for those extra days, weeks or months that we were given together because of Lifeline. The least I can do is fundraise so that someone else receives the same benefit. "

- Clare

Anyone struggling

"Today, I am walking 10 kilometers to honor those we have lost to suicide, and to stand with everyone who is still fighting in the dark. This walk is deeply personal for me. Not long ago, I was in a very dark place myself. I know the weight, the isolation, and the pain of feeling like there is no way out. But I made it through, and today I am walking to prove that there is hope on the other side.I am walking so that those who are struggling right now know they are not alone. I am walking to break the silence, to erase the stigma, and to make sure that nobody else has to go through that darkness without a hand to hold.To those we have lost: you are remembered. To those still fighting: please stay. Your story isn't over yet."

Winter

"In may 2026, I tried to take my life. it didn't work, and i ended up in hospital. When i made that decision, i immediately told one of my friends, and she convinced me to call an ambulance. Her name is winter. I had only met her one month before but we were friends, and i knew she understood. she made sure i called the ambulance, get the help i needed and made sure i was alright. What i did wouldnt of taken my life had winter helped or not, but i surely wouldve felt like i had died. Without winter, i would be here today. I would've tried to end myself again, and again, and again until it worked. but i didn't. Because of winter. i am eternally grateful for her. "

Randal simon

"My walk is on behalf of my husband whom has been recently going through his own dark days. It has been scary not knowing if he's himself today or if it's his thoughts. Being there for someone who's not there is draining because there would be days where I would go into my thoughts, then I would remember I'm not the one I should be worrying about it's my husband. He's been lost lately and we're trying to find him again. Everyone else that is going through their own just know you are STRONG, BRAVE and no one will know what's wrong until you tell them. Don't feel wrong when your not in control or when you think nobody will be there for you, there are 28million other ears out in Aus to hear and understand your pain and struggles. Never feel alone."

- Grace

For my Friends 💕

"You will never walk alone"

John Langdon

"I lost my dad to suicide in 2024. He was one of the most resilient, intelligent, selfless people. He made everyone around him feel loved and cared for, and put everyone above himself. He was in the Australian Army and he served to protect our country, which is one of the most selfless acts someone could do. I want to remember him and raise awareness in any way that I can. "

Caleb Quinn

John Clare

"My dad died by suicide when I was a baby. He may have left when I was too young to remember him, but he will always be a part of my story. I’ll carry his memory with me for the rest of my life, and I’ll always wonder about the father I never got the chance to know but growing up without him has taught me something important: if you’re struggling, speak up. Ask for help. Don’t keep it to yourself. There is always someone you can talk to."

- Jessica Clare

Kayla and Ethan Harwood

"I will be walking in honour of my best friend Kayla who passed away just over a year ago and her brother who also passed away due to suicide in 2018. Kayla’s favourite quote was ‘in a world where you can be anything, be kind’. It is a constant reminder to always choose kindness because your words carry weight and some people are barely hanging on 💛"

Uncle Nigel

"We lost my Uncle Nigel to suicide when I was just a child. I have foggy but lovely memories of him. The pain that it caused our family is something I couldn't explain. I wish he was still here, to see the children that have been born. To laugh with us when we all get together. To remince To have lived a life & shared his pain. We would have held some of it for him. I've included an image which has an excerpt from a book I read, 'How to see yourself as you really are', by the Dalai Lama. It helped me immensely when I personally went through a very dark time. It may help you too 🩵 "

Siobhan

"I've experienced depression & anxiety for as long as I can remember. I try to be strong, but somedays I can barely function. I can feel so lonely - but, I know others are out there going through the same & worse. Even if we don't know each other, we may never meet... but I'm thinking of you & sending you strength & love. I try to remember: ☆ I may feel lonely but I'm never alone in what I'm experiencing. ☆ It's not that I don't want to live, it's that I don't want to live this way. Meditation has helped me in ways I could never explain. I highly recommend even basic breathing or body scan mindful Meditation. Take care, the world needs you. I need you. You need you. This life were living, it's maddening & beautiful all at once. And you deserve all the beauty, joy & love it has to offer. "

- Siobhan

Elina 🖤

"We are dedicating this walk to our beloved friend Elina, who we lost to suicide just a couple of weeks ago 💔 What makes this years World Suicide Prevention day feel even more personal, is that Elina’s funeral will be held the day after. As we are literally on the opposite side of the world and cannot attend the funeral, we will be walking in the name of Elina - to raise funds so that nobody else will leave this earth the way she did. So that we never have to receive these news about one of our loved ones ever again. Too many have gone, way too young. We are heartbroken and still mourning her death, but want to try to turn this sorrow into action. We want to break the stigma surrounding suicide, and open the discussion about mental health. We ourselves are no stranger to these dark thoughts. So let’s talk about it. Elina was a beautiful, talented, strong individual with a very unique world view - hence the goal donation amount chosen. As she would say, Love is the law, love under will 🖤"

Myself, friends and family lost to suicide

"I’m dedicating this walk to myself, and to the friends and family I’ve lost to suicide. ❤️ I’ve been in some really dark places. I’ve stood on the edge more than once, and there have been times I honestly didn’t know if I’d make it to the other side. But I did. I’m still here. And I know how hard it can be to find the strength to take that next step when everything inside you is telling you to give up. So that’s what this walk means to me — one foot in front of the other. One more step. Then another. Just keep going. If you’re struggling, please stay. Please reach out. Please keep going. You never know what’s waiting for you on the other side. 🖤"

Kenny Iles (Dad and Pop)

"I am not religious, but as I sorted out my fathers possessions, after he passed away, I love this piece I came across highlighted in a Bible on his coffee table, which I hope gives others comfort too. "2 Corinthians 4:17–18: For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. These dark thoughts you might have are only a short moment in time, please make that phone call or text for help, tomorrow is a new day full of opportunities and hope! Even use a code word, like we have made up in our friendship group, text "wanker coffee" aka, I need a pick me up, please reach out. My Grandfather and his son, my Dad, passed away 5 months apart in the exact same location, using the same mechanism to pass away. If only they had reached out and texted or called and got the help they needed."

Liv💗

"Liv was one of my best friends, and there aren’t enough words in the world to say how much I miss her. She was the most beautiful, kind, thoughtful, funny and loveable person I have ever met. She had a way of making everyone around her feel loved and safe, and I feel so lucky that I got to call her my best friend. She changed my life for the better, and it’s so hard to picture my life without her in it. She left us far too soon, and if only we had more time to live through all the plans we made, all the places we wanted to go and all the memories we still had ahead of us. I would give anything to hug her, hear her laugh and tell her I love her just one more time. I wish I could have one more conversation, one more laugh, one more ordinary day with her. I hope she knew just how deeply she is loved and how much she means to all of us. I will always remember your laugh, your beautiful smile and the way you lit up a room the second you walked in. I will carry every memory of you with me for the rest of my life. You may not be here for all the moments we imagined, but you will always be a part of them. You will forever be with me, my angel. Love you."

"It's been 38 years since you departed Dad.. You left this world to escape your pain - I couldn't understand why at the time - I was shattered & hurting so bad..pain became my whole world.. A lot has happened since then & I do mean a lot - but I'm pretty certain you know that - & in that time, the pain became the gain. It hasn't been an easy path..but I don't think it's meant to be lol? I was on a razors edge, staring into the abyss. I could clearly see that if I was to slip in, there'd was no comomg back - the Dark (K)Night had come for my soul - & that was the night, my life changed forever. Thank-you Dad..I know you helped me to save myself❣️. Life has never been the same since. I am eternally grateful & feel extremely fortunate - I am truly blessed☺️. Love you always Dad - looking forward to seeing you on the other side of the veil, come the time😉💚💜❤️..thanks for everything - until then xoxo"

"Suicide can impact anyone, regardless of how strong or resilient they may appear on the outside. I always saw my dad as a tough, thick-skinned man who could handle anything. I never imagined that he could be struggling so deeply. His passing has impacted more people than he ever could have imagined. I wish that he could have known how loved, admired and valued he was and how many people cared about him. If there is one thing I hope people take from Dad’s story, it’s thatSuicide can impact anyone, regardless of how strong or resilient they may appear on the outside. I always saw my dad as a tough, thick-skinned man — someone who could handle anything life threw at him. I never imagined that, beneath that strength, he could be struggling so deeply. His passing has impacted more people than he ever could have imagined. I wish more than anything that he could have known how deeply loved, admired and valued he was, and how many people cared about him. Check on the ones you love and have those difficult conversations. "

Family and friends

" I have chose to walk in memory of the many beautiful souls we have lost to suicide, and in support of those who continue to fight their battles every day. Mental health has touched my life in more ways than I can count. Like so many others, I have experienced my own struggles and have watched people I love face theirs. I know how heavy life can feel at times, and how important connection, support, and hope truly are. To those we have lost, you are loved, missed, and remembered. Your lives mattered, and your memories live on in the hearts of those who knew you. This walk is for you. It is for those who are grieving, for those who are struggling in silence, and for those who need to know that they are not alone. Together, we can continue the conversation, break the stigma, and remind one another that help, hope, and brighter days are possible. Forever remembered. Forever loved."

- Jaimee Su

Milly

"In memory of my beautiful best friend Milly. There are so many things I wish I could tell you, and so many moments I wish you were still here to experience with us. You were so much more than what you were going through. You were a best friend, a daughter, a teammate and someone who was deeply loved by so many people. Behind everything you achieved and the person everyone saw on the outside, you were carrying an enormous amount of pressure. Between family circumstances, the expectations and stress that came with sport, and being away at boarding school, you were struggling without feeling like you had someone you could truly talk to. I wish more than anything that you had known how many people would have listened. I wish you could have seen yourself through the eyes of everyone who loved you and known that you never had to carry everything by yourself. Losing you has changed my life forever. I will always carry our memories, our friendship and the person you were with me. I will keep talking about you, saying your name and remembering you for your kindness, your strength, your laugh and all of the little things that made you you. I’m walking Out of the Shadows in your memory, but also in the hope that another young person who feels alone will realise that there is someone who wants to hear them. No achievement, expectation, family situation, sporting result or pressure is more important than a person’s life and wellbeing. You should still be here. You are loved beyond words, missed every single day, and you will never be forgotten. "

"I cannot tell you how many times this service has saved me from myself, I live with extreme gratitude and hope that as time passes I need it less 🤍 All too often it’s said that suicide is the easy way out. It’s common to hear the word ‘coward’ roll of the tounges of people who haven’t lived it, or don’t understand it. On my darkest of days I’ve been told that I’m selfish, inconsiderate, that I’m a bad person who’s hurting those who I love. I am none of these things… these words are far from helpful, they do not empower the suffering nor do they make you ‘snap out of it’. They simply add to the stigma and self loathing, further impacting a persons ability to speak up. I will forever be a safe space for anyone needing somewhere to purge, to throw all that hurt or to simply hold space and sit with them silently sharing their darkness. 🤍"

Anthony John Cain

"I’m walking with a heavy heart, but with hope. 💛 I lost my brother Anthony John Cain to suicide in 2007, across the road from the Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich on Wildey Street. The following year, 2008, my life was turned upside down. I was told I needed brain surgery that could leave me either dead or in a vegetative state, but I survived. Then I endured the worst pain any parent could imagine: I lost two children to SIDS and Myocarditis this completely destroyed me as a parent, no child should pass before their parent 😥 These losses have left me with ABI, IED, SEIZURES and also Complex PTSD with other multiple mental health issues. On top of that, I’ve recently had spinal surgery which makes every step of this walk even harder. Some days can be very challenging 🥴 but we push through. I'm now a full time single parent to my 9-year-old son and we will be walking 27km for Lifeline’s Out of the Shadows Walk, to raise $1,170 enough to answer 30 crisis calls. We are doing this so other families hopefully don’t have to go through what mine have, and be left to pick up the pieces and the amount of hurt and pain. If you can spare even $5 or $10, or share this post it all helps to help those in their darkest times Thank you, and God bless."

If I could have one more moment with you, I wouldn't need to say anything. I would just hold you. I would hold you so tightly and never let go. I would tell you how incredibly loved you are, how proud i am to be your mum, and how much you mean to me. I wish you could have seen yourself through my eyes. You were so much more than the pain you were carrying. You were my son You were precious. You were loved beyond measure. Your life had meaning, and your place in our family will never be filled by anyone else i would give anything to turn back time and have one more day with you I will say vour name. I wish you could have known just how loved you were, and how many people still carry you in their hearts. You’re showing up for people whose struggles may never be visible from the outside, for families who carry names and memories with them every day, and for those who are still here fighting battles quietly. May every kilometre stand for compassion over judgement, conversation over silence, and the reminder that a human life can change direction when someone cares enough to notice. And I honour you for being willing to be one of those people. Walk proudly, brother. Not ahead of anyone, not above anyone — alongside them. 🤜🤛🌿🪶"

"I’ll just mention Myself . I have a long history of complex mental health with some serious extremes with suicidal thoughts and actions . I know to many close souls that have dealt with the ripple effects of suicide and the heavy stone that casts waves of bad news hits .. Everyone who’s donated probably doesn’t know I cry for a moment because I know they’ve dealt with the waves of this realm .. probably a little too well .. .. I’m forever grateful.. .. my legs will say other wise but the face will be happy tears 😂.. seriously though thank you life line for having a call line .. people should wanna feel wanted and supported "

Charlie Makhlouf

"In Memory of Charlie Charlie was the life of the party. He had this incredible ability to light up any room he walked into. He was the fun guy, the guy who somehow became everyone’s friend. His laugh was completely contagious, when Charlie laughed, you couldn’t help but laugh with him. But behind all that fun was something even more beautiful. Charlie was an amazing dad. He loved his children with everything he had. He loved his family fiercely, and he loved his country just as deeply. He was always reminding our kids how lucky they were and teaching them to appreciate what they had. And he loved me in a way I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Charlie knew how to make my heart do somersaults in my chest. He loved unconditionally. He had the kindest heart, and he would have given you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Charlie had so many wonderful qualities, so many values, so much love, so much life in him. But he was also fighting a battle that so many people never saw. He was fighting demons in his mind that ultimately became too loud, too painful and too overwhelming. And those demons took him away from us far too soon. His death has robbed our family of a lifetime of moments we were meant to share with him, the birthdays, graduations, weddings, grandchildren, celebrations and all those ordinary little moments that make up a life. Our lives have been turned completely upside down. I lost my husband. My children lost their dad. Our family lost a part of itself. And there are days when the grief feels unbearable. I died inside with Charlie the day he took his own life. Grief hurts. His absence hurts. And learning how to live in a world without Charlie hurts in ways I never knew were possible. But in September 13, I choose to walk for him. I walk because I want Charlie’s story to reach someone who is struggling in silence. I want it to reach the dad who thinks his family would be better off without him. The husband who believes he is a burden. The person who is smiling on the outside while fighting an unimaginable battle on the inside. Please hear me. Your family does not need a perfect version of you. They need you. Please tell someone. Please ask for help. Please stay. Because life is not better without you. I would give anything to have one more moment with Charlie, to hold him, to comfort him, to quiet those demons in his head and tell him what I wish I could have told him loudly enough for him to believe: “Charlie, your life was worth fighting for. You were loved more than you knew. Life was not better without you. Please, please stay.” I cannot bring Charlie back. But I can carry his story forward. And if sharing his story reaches even one person before they make that irreversible decision, if it helps one dad put down the pain for just one more day, reach out, make the call, tell someone they aren't okay, and choose to stay, then Charlie's life can continue to make a difference. That is what I want his legacy to be. Not just that we lost him. But that his story helped someone stay. So on September 13, we walk for Charlie. We walk for the dads who are struggling. We walk for the families who are grieving. We walk for everyone fighting battles that others cannot see. And we walk with one message in our hearts: You are loved. You are needed. You are not a burden. There is help. Please stay."

She was only two years older than me and was both my closest friend and my biggest rival. As sisters, we would get along one minute and fight the next, but not a day goes by that I don't wish I could turn back time and relive those moments. Grace always knew how to make people laugh and was known for being fiercely competitive, which makes sense given she had five siblings. She always tried to lend a hand to others, even when she was going through her own struggles. Not a day passes that I don't miss her deeply. You may no longer be here physically, but your story is not finished. Your name still matters. Your life still matters. And the love people carry for you is still moving through the world in ways you probably could never have imagined. I’m walking for you, right beside Clint. For every family who knows the pain of losing someone they love. And for every person who is fighting a battle in silence and wondering whether anyone can see them. If your story can help even one person hold on, reach out, speak up, or feel less alone in their darkest moment, then I/we will keep telling it. Your legacy isn’t something you left behind Tamzin. It’s something those who love you will continue to carry forward forever and always. 💜"
