We did it!!

Thank you so much for being a part of our Out of the Shadows walk today on World Suicide Prevention Day. I cannot tell you what your support in lead up to and over today has meant.

Today we walked to remember the 9 lives lost everyday in Australia to suicide while raising money for Lifeline’s lifesaving services. 

We did it team, we made our $5000 target 🥹🥰

Look at the distances we covered over different walks across the country 🥰

Today we walked for Mum’s, Dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, Aunty’s, uncles, cousins, friends, workmates. 

Today we remembered those lost to suicide & acknowledged the pain of those left behind. 

If not with them, then for them 🫶🏼

Only 2 sleeps to go team & we are edging closer to our $5000 target. Thanks so much for all your support & efforts 🙏

For our Tassie walkers, friendly reminder we will meet at 930am opposite The Elimatta. We will have a short ceremony & minutes silence for those we are remembering & walking for & then walk as a group. The pace won’t be too fast, I have a knee that needs replacing so we won’t be breaking any records (for those that want to walk faster, please do). 

The weather forecast looks fresh but otherwise promising. There are toilets along the walk & if anyone needs first aid, I’ll call for it. 

For those joining us for lunch, we are booked at 12 under my name. If you’d like to join us and haven’t RSVP’d, please let me know so I can add you to the booking. We will draw the raffle for the amazing Choose to Live, Love Your Life cake made for our cause & I’ll also say a few words & thank yous. 

For those that ordered team shirts, I’ll drop them off before Sunday, at worst, I’ll bring them with me. 

For those interstate, please send us your photos, we would love to see you all.

If not with them, then for them. Let’s remember them, honour them & make sure their story is told & heard 🌟💙

Team update

We’ve just ticked over $2000 team!! A heartfelt thanks to you all 🫶🏼 We are also being supported by our local community with donation bins & raffles which I will add to our final tally after next Sunday.

For our Tassie people, we will start the walk with a brief ceremony & a minutes silence to remember those we’ve lost & loved to suicide. We all have a why & over our 9km walk, it would be great to connect with each other on who we are walking for.

I have booked a large table for lunch after our walk at The Elimatta, if you would like to join us, please let me know, all are welcome.

For those interstate, there are a range of local Lifeline walks that have been organised, please message me if you would like details, or you can do your own 9km.

If you’ve raised over $39, remember you can order your Lifeline shirt via the dashboard on your individual page. For those that ordered our team shirts, they are nearly ready for pick up & I will express post the interstate ones.

Team Update

We now have 12 members across three states participating in the Out of the Shadows walk on World Suicide Prevention Day in September for our team. 

Thanks to you all we have already raised over $1000. I’m hoping to make it to $5000, with all money going directly to Lifeline and their lifesaving services.

We now have team members from Tassie, WA & NSW. For those in Tassie, we will be doing a practice walk this weekend so we can ensure we have a good one mapped for the big event on the 10th September.

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. 

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, we will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.

We are walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support Aussies in need.

Together we can ensure that no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
