Foenix Cruisers

Between now and World Suicide Day on the 10 September, Foenix cruisers will be skateboarding 444km to remember those lost to suicide and to raise funds for Lifeline's crisis support services. 

Foenix was founded for the core purpose to connect, heal and empower women through skateboarding and community, so no one can feel like they're navigating the darkness alone. 

Last year, we skated 77.7km and raised almost $1,500, but as our Foenix family has grown significantly over our first 12 months (now the largest skate collective for women in Australia) – we are raising the bar to project further impact and support. 

Three years ago for the first time in my life, I experienced the heaviness of depression, and despite the deep healing and therapy work I was doing, I felt I was not going to make through to the light. 
I was lucky enough a very close friend of mine pushed me to start skateboarding again, but this time, it was life-saving medicine. 

Skateboarding and community resurrected me from the ashes and enabled me to find my light again, and through this darkness, I found my purpose and Foenix Cruisers was born. 

My journey has proved that skateboarding heals hearts, so my mission is to project these physical and emotional healing benefits to help illuminate the paths of anyone else navigating darkness.  

65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life every year and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. If we can help make any impact on reducing this number, we are truly fulfilling our purpose. 

Someone calls the Lifeline crisis support line every 29 seconds. A donation of $39 will support one life-saving connection from someone who is suffering. Our fundraising goal of $4,444 will support 133 critical calls.  

We chose this specific amount for its powerful symbol of protection, support, and stability. It represents the safe foundation we hope to build for those navigating depression, reminding them they are never alone.
