I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
Hi All,
I lost my sister Karen nearly a year now. It has been the most difficult year of my parents, my nephew and my life.
Karen was a daughter, a sister, a sister-in-law, an aunty, a work colleague and a friend but most importantly a mum.
We've had to pack her son Kyan up to be with his dad (who hasn't lived in Australia for the past 9 years) to Uganda and now Finland. My parents have also lost their grandson to the other side of the world.
We've had to sell everything of Karen's. The contents of her house, her belongings, her car and her house.
I am walking to commemorate her unnecessary death a year on and hope that no one else has to endure this journey.
Lifeline runs a suicide bereavement group for free thanks to the generosity of many people. This group has been my source of support and comfort during this difficult time. I am so grateful to Lifeline and am giving back now.

On World Suicide Prevention Day, I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day.
I'm walking to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need.

I’ll be cheering you on from the comfiest chair... You and I met in a lifeline closed group because of the worst type of common ground. Yet we can usually make each laugh despite and through copious tears. This is because Lifeline brought a group of us together showing us we are not alone and that it is ok to cry, laugh, be angry or just plain sad all at the same time. Plus hungry.
