I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
Every year, over 65,000 Australians attempt suicide, and
more than 3,000 tragically lose their lives to this crisis. Lifeline responds
to over 1 million contacts from individuals in distress annually, highlighting
the urgent need for support.
The impact of suicide extends far beyond the individual, profoundly affecting
friends and family members left behind.
In recognition of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, I will
participate in the Out of the Shadows initiative, walking in memory of the nine
individuals lost to suicide each day. My goal is to complete 63 kilometers over
the course of seven days, from September 10 to September 16.
I am walking to raise funds for Lifeline, which provides essential suicide
prevention services and support to Australians in need.
