Walking for Change: Remembering Nick and Supporting Lifeline’s Lifesaving Work
On September 11th, 2016, I lost my cousin Nick to suicide. He was just 27 years old.
That day changed my life forever. I’m walking in Out of the Shadows for Nick — and for all those who are struggling in silence.
Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life, and more than 3,000 Australians die by suicide.
Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.
The impact of suicide is devastating and far-reaching, affecting families, friends, and entire communities.
You never know if a friend or family member is silently suffering and needs help.
That’s why these conversations — and this support — are so important.
On September 11th, we will be walking in honour of Nick and for the 9 lives lost to suicide every single day.
We’re walking to raise funds for Lifeline, to help them continue offering life-saving support to Aussies in crisis.
💙 We’ll be going live on TikTok throughout the day, sharing the walk and spreading awareness.
