This September I’m walking 37km to raise money for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need
I’m walking in memory of a beautiful friend who deserved so much more time, more joy, more love – more life – than he ever could have experienced in his 37 years. He deserved nothing but happiness, and happiness was what he brought into the lives of everyone who was lucky enough to know him and be loved by him.
Words will never be enough to describe the mark he left on this world and the people in it, nor will words ever be enough for any of the other 3,000 people who die by suicide in Australia every year.
That is 9 people lost every single day. Picture nine people who you’ve crossed paths with today. It could be your sister, your husband, your uncle, your coworker who always asks if you’d like a coffee and who makes you laugh even when everything is going wrong. It could be the teenager on the bus, the woman at Coles who helped you find the almond milk, or the man in line at Bunnings in the hi-vis and dusty workboots, whose phone lockscreen is a photo of his kids. Now picture all the people in their lives who would be utterly devastated by their loss, and how different and worse the world would be without them in it.
Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year and provides a safety net for people to turn to in their darkest moments when they need support.
Please support my walk, and Lifeline, so together we can help those in crisis ❤
My impact so far
I've raised $673 so far to answer 17 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.
With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
