Reasons to Stay. I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Every day in Australia, 9 people die by suicide. Over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life each year, and Lifeline receives more than 1 million calls for help from people in crisis.

Behind every one of those numbers is a person l, whether it’s be someone’s family, someone’s friend, someone who needed a reason to stay.

This September 10, for World Suicide Prevention Day, I’m walking with my team, Reasons to Stay, to take part in Out of the Shadows. We’re walking for the 9 people we lose every day. We’re walking for the people battling through the day and still looking for a reason to hold on.

Because that’s what this is about Reminding people that there are reasons to stay and that no one has to face their darkest moment alone.

Every dollar raised goes to Lifeline, helping fund crisis support and suicide prevention services for Australians who need it most.

If you can, please sponsor my walk. Whether it’s $10 or $100, it helps keep the phone lines open, the support available, and the reasons to stay real for someone who needs them.

Together, we can be one more reason someone chooses to stay.
