Walking with James ✨
Walking with James 💛
This year marks 10 years since we lost James.
Not a day goes by that we don’t think of him. The way James passed is something we’ll never fully understand, and it’s a question our family will carry with us forever.
If you knew James, you knew how much he loved his family and friends. He was funny, caring, generous, and always happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. Nothing would have made him happier than seeing everyone come together to share stories, laugh, and spend time with one another.
One of the biggest reasons we’re doing Walking with James is to raise awareness that suicide can affect anyone. So often, there are no obvious signs. To us, James was the happy, kind hearted person we all knew and loved. We never imagined he was carrying a battle he felt he couldn’t share.
Through this walk, we hope to help break the stigma surrounding mental health, encourage open and honest conversations, and remind people that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. We also hope to encourage everyone to check in on the people they love, because sometimes a simple conversation can make all the difference.
To honour James, we’re raising funds for suicide prevention in the hope that we can help save lives and spare other families from experiencing the heartbreak that ours has endured. If sharing James’ story encourages even one person to reach out for help, or inspires someone to check in on a friend or loved one, then his legacy will continue to make a difference.
When: Saturday, 29 August
Walk starts: 10:30 am
Lunch: 1:00 pm at the Panton Hill Hotel
Distance: 9 km
Where: Diamond Creek (final route to be confirmed)
After the walk we’ll head to the Panton Hill Hotel for lunch, a drink, and the chance to celebrate James, remember the good times, and raise a glass in his honour.
Whether you walk the full 9 km, join us for part of the walk, or simply come along for lunch afterwards, we’d love to have you there. Your support means more to our family than words can express.
If you can’t make it but would still like to support the cause, we’d be incredibly grateful for a donation. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps fund suicide prevention and supports people and families who need it most.
Thank you for walking beside us, helping us honour James memory, raise awareness, break the stigma, and remind others that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.
