We're walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
My grandma(Grandy) ended her life on the 4th of March, just a week before her 82nd birthday. She was truly one of a kind, I have never met somebody as kind hearted as she was. No matter how hard life got she was always looking out for the people around her & making sure they were loved & cared for. She would always cook the best meals & desserts for the whole family, her shortbread being the family favourite. She taught me that it never hurts to be kind, millions, billions even of people struggle daily, you being kind to somebody could be the best part of their day or even save their life. Up until her death she would look after a lady that was 102 years old, my grandma would take her to the wave pool, take her out to cafes, pick her up & drop her home for somebody at her age & the ladies it’s something that has always amazed me. She never showed any signs that she was struggling and most people never do. Up until she died, she was the most joy filled & strong person I have ever met, never without a smile on her face. I never would have thought something of this measure would affect someone of her age, but it did.
Some days I feel good & some days I want to scream out to the sky and ask why? and some days all I want is just one last hug or be able to hear her voice again.Life is full of ups and downs but I could have never imagined the feelings that come after something of this nature.
I wanted to come on here to share some of her stories & some of my journey & feelings of dealing with it all to hopefully inspire others to do the same.
Everybody deals with grief, pain & loss in their own way but we can always give each other a helping hand in times that we need it.
A simple “are you okay?” Or “how are you?” Could be the reason somebody opens up or just let’s you know that their not doing okay. You never know what somebody has going on behind closed doors.
Worldwide on average we lose 720,000 people a year to suicide
It is the worlds third leading cause of death in people aged 15-29
Adults aged 75 and older have one of the highest suicide rates of 20.3 per 100,000.
Please check on your family, friends, peers. I promise it is never weak to speak up, it will only be for the better.
The courage it takes to admit you are not okay is the strongest thing you may ever do.
SUICIDE IS A PERMANENT SOLUTION TO A TEMPORARY PROBLEM ❤️ So call, text, show up or reach out any time day or night.
I PROMISE YOU ARE NOT, AND WILL NEVER BE A BURDEN ❤️.
