Hello Everyone, I wanted to take a moment to share something personal and important to me.
This month, I’m fundraising for World Suicide Prevention Day and suicide awareness in honour of my very dear and close friend; Anthony ‘Fonda’ Cox, who we sadly lost far too soon, at 39 years young. Fonda was one of the kindest, loving, loyal and most genuine people I have ever known.
I met him the first week I moved to Sydney, 15 years ago. The day I met him; he told me his name was Fonda - and I didn’t even question it. We stay best friends from that day. Over that time, he’s been my housemate 3 times, we went on holiday together many times. He even took me to visit his family in Tasmania. And when we went to the UK, I took him to visit my family.
Losing him was one of the most upsetting, heartbreaking and devastating moments of my life. It’s a reminder of how important it is to talk openly about mental health and support those who are struggling or in a vulnerable situation.
Every day, nine Australians take their own life. Suicide awareness isn’t just about fundraising, it’s about breaking the silence, challenging stigma, and making sure people know help is available. Every conversation, every shared story, and every donation helps create a society where reaching out for help is met with understanding and support.
I’m fundraising for Out of the Shadows, organised for World Suicide Prevention Day, on 10 Sept.

This month, I’m honouring my dear friend Anthony “Fonda” Cox. We met 15 years ago through Ben, and he quickly became like family to me. In 2011 and 2012, we travelled through London, Madrid, and Prague, filling our days with laughter, adventures, and memories I’ll never let go of. In 2012, we even travelled together on our own — one of the greatest honours of my life. Just two months before his passing, I told him how proud I was of him, never knowing it would be our last exchange. Now I’ll be travelling to Melbourne between 21 August in his honour, carrying the same heartbreak his family and friends are feeling — a pain beyond words. But through our grief, I know he’d want us to hold each other up, celebrate his life, and never stop reminding each other that help is always there: outoftheshadowswalk.org.au.
