I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Every year, more than 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life, and over 3,000 people die by suicide. These aren’t just numbers — they’re family members, friends, classmates, colleagues, and people who should still be here.

Lifeline receives over a million contacts from people in crisis each year. That alone shows how many Australians reach out because they don’t know where else to turn.

Suicide leaves a deep impact on everyone connected to the person lost. The grief doesn’t fade quickly, and the ripple effect touches entire communities.

For World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, I’m taking part in Out of the Shadows. I’m walking in honour of the nine Australians who lose their lives to suicide every single day, and for the people who are still fighting their way through the dark.

I’m raising funds for Lifeline so they can continue providing crisis support and suicide‑prevention services to those who need it most. My walk is one small way I can help make sure no one has to face their hardest moments alone.
