I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Every year in Australia, over 3,000 people die by suicide. That’s nine lives lost every single day. Behind every one of those lives is a family, a friend group, a community left heartbroken.

I almost became one of those lives.

There was a night not too long ago when I was standing on the edge—mentally, emotionally. If it hadn’t been for my son waking and crying in that exact moment, I don’t know that I’d still be here to share this with you. That cry pulled me out of the fog, just enough to choose to stay. But not everyone gets that moment. Not everyone gets a second chance.

I’ve lost family and old school friends to suicide. I’ve seen the grief it leaves behind. And I know too many people who carry that same pain. That’s why this year, for World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I’ll be walking in Out of the Shadows—to honour those we’ve lost, to support those who are struggling, and to help fund Lifeline’s life-saving crisis services.

If you’re in a position to, please consider sponsoring my walk. Your support could help keep someone else here—someone else’s parent, child, partner, or friend.

Let’s make sure no one has to face their darkest moments alone.

Thank you
