On September 9th I walked 9km

On September 9th, I walked 9km through the beautiful Alligator Gorge to honour the 9 lives lost to suicide every single day here in Australia.

Each step of this walk was a reminder of those who are no longer with us, including my sister, Zoe Gough, who passed away before I had the chance to truly know her. I often wonder how different life might have been if she were still here, and it drives me to raise awareness and support for others who may be struggling.

This walk wasn’t just about the distance—it was about carrying the weight of grief, hope, and determination to make a difference. By supporting Lifeline, we can help create a future where fewer families have to endure the heartbreak of losing someone they love.

I’m walking to remember my sister Zoe Gough

I’m walking in memory of my sister, Zoe Gough. Zoe passed away when I was just a baby, so I never had the chance to truly know her. Even though we never got to grow up together, I feel her absence deeply. I often wonder how different our family’s journey might have been if she were still here—how many of the challenges we’ve faced could have been eased by her love and presence.

Every year, so many families lose someone they love to suicide. It’s a pain that ripples through generations, leaving unanswered questions and unspoken words. By walking, I honour Zoe’s life and the lives of all those who are no longer with us.

This walk raises awareness and funds for Lifeline, who provide vital support to people in crisis. I hope my steps not only honour my sister, but also help others find the strength and hope they need to keep going.
