Hey everyone,

This year, I’m taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking 9km to honour the 9 Australians lost to suicide every single day.

That number is heartbreaking — more than 3,000 lives each year. These aren’t just statistics. They are sons, daughters, partners, parents, friends, and colleagues. They are people we love.

As many of you know, I lost my dad in 2023 to suicide. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him. He was kind, loving, funny, and full of life — and losing him has left a space in our lives that can never be filled.

This walk isn’t just about remembering him. It’s about raising awareness, breaking the stigma around mental health, and making sure that help is there when people need it most. My goal is to raise funds for Lifeline, whose 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services truly save lives.

I'm walking to honour my dad’s memory, but also for every family who has experienced the pain of such a loss — and for those who might be struggling right now. I walk in hope that fewer families will ever have to go through what mine did.
