Im waking to remember my girl maya

A few years ago, my world shifted forever when I lost one of my best friends to suicide. There are no words that can ever explain the emptiness that comes with losing someone you love in that way the questions, the what ifs, the ache that never fully goes away. They were more than just my friend; they were family to me, a soul I thought I’d grow old alongside, and it still hurts every day knowing that they’re no longer here.

This year, I’m walking in their honor. I’m walking for the moments we’ll never get back, for the laughter I still hear when I close my eyes, and for the love they gave so freely while they were here. I’m walking because no one should ever feel like they’re alone in this world, and because mental health struggles deserve to be spoken about, not silenced.

This walk is for them for their memory, their story, and their life that mattered more than they ever knew. It’s also for anyone who has ever felt like they were carrying too much. You are seen. You are loved. You are not alone.
