I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis
Hey everyone,
This year, I’m taking part in Out of the Shadows for World Suicide Prevention Day. I'm hiking 18km in Lerderderg State Park, to honour the 9 Australians lost to suicide every single day.
That number is heartbreaking — more than 3,000 lives each year (and 65,000 attempts). Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year. These aren’t just statistics. They are sons, daughters, partners, parents, friends, and colleagues. They are people we love.
This walk is about remembering my dear friend Elizabeth.
It’s also about raising awareness, breaking the stigma around mental health, and making sure that help is there when people need it most. My goal is to raise funds for Lifeline, whose 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services truly save lives.
