We’re walking to remember a beautiful mum of two girls who no one knew was hurting

My best friend, Jenny wasn’t yet 40 and left behind two beautiful girls aged 7 and 5 (our girls ages at the time). Jenny was vivacious, kind, fun, creative, and had an inimitable way of lighting up any room she walked into. No one knew about her silent battle with crippling depression. NO ONE takes their own life to hurt others. They do so to escape from unrelenting, often silent, and always crushing pain.

Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year. Suicide has devastating impact on friends and loved ones.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), The Colonel, Mick, and I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking 27kms for the 9 people lost to suicide every day in Australia. We will be walking Saturday 13 September. Donate if you can to raise funds for Lifeline. But even if you are not in a position to donate, hopefully this post and our walk brings some much needed awareness for so many people in crisis.
