This is my final accountability and gratitude update. 

Thank you all for the donations, messages and for walking alongside me - whether in person or in spirit! 

Over five days (starting on World Suicide Prevention Day) I walked 34 km and together we raised $2,115. That will enable Lifeline’s incredible team to answer 54 calls from people in need. 

Your support truly makes a difference. Please keep checking in on one another and choosing kindness 🫶

Today my wonderful friend Nichola (who’s been with me through it all!) joint me today to smash out 7.5 km, which pushed me past the 18 km I pledged 👌
 I’ll finish strong with the Cancer Council Women’s 5 km walk tomorrow, supporting another cause close to my heart ❤️

We’re just shy of $2,000 raised, well beyond the target I set. I’m so grateful for your generous donations and support - you’re amazing 🙌

🫶 Accountability and gratitude update #1

Wednesday marked World Suicide Prevention Day…I got up nice and early to join my friends and community members for the Lifeline “Out of the Shadows” walk in memory of those we’ve lost and in support of survivors. 

I only completed 8km this morning and will finish the remaining 10+ km over the next few days 👌

Thank you to everyone who donated, sent messages, or offered to walk with me - I’m so grateful for the incredible people in my life. 

Together we’ve raised $1,669, which will fund 43 crisis calls. 🫶

I’m absolutely blown away by everyone’s support - thank you so much 🙏

It has taken me years to overcome the stigma and find the courage to speak publicly about my family’s experience. Thank you all for your support and for creating a safe space to raise awareness and funds 🫶

I do however need to make a public apology…
I signed up thinking it was a 9km walk and as much as I would love to walk 18km in a day…my body would have other ideas! So I commit to do 18km during the week of 8 September- I’m sorry to let anyone down but please know whether I walk it in a day or a week…the awareness and fundraising will still make a huge difference for this important cause.

I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Wednesday 10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day and I’ll be taking part in the ‘Out of the Shadows’ event - walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day 💔 

I’ve been deeply touched by having lost my dad and my brother to suicide. Nothing prepares you for that kind of grief - the emptiness, the questions, the way it changes everything. That’s why this cause is so close to my heart.

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and more than 3,000 die by suicide. Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year. Suicide has a devastating impact on friends and loved ones, and my family is living proof of that.

I’m walking to raise funds for Lifeline so they can continue to provide critical suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need. Please support this vital service by joining me on the walk or donating - 

Together, we can make sure no one has to face their darkest moments alone.
