I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide, including my friend Timothy Brien, and support those in crisis

Tragically, every year over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and over 3,000 Australians die by suicide. Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis each year.

For World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I will be taking part in Out of the Shadows and walking for the 9 people lost to suicide every day. 

On Tuesday 9/9, I managed to injure my meniscus in my knee. As I have been on crutches since, I am pairing up with a friend to reach my goal of 70kms between the 10-16/9. I am still very determined to raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for Australians in need. I am determined to finish it for Tim.

Today was someone’s last day here. Tomorrow will be someone’s last day here. Someone’s brother, someone’s sister, mother, father, best friend, partner, child. Tomorrow is someone’s last day here. Tomorrow is never promised. So do it today. Do it tired and unmotivated, scared and nervous, injured and sick. Do it by yourself and do it with confidence. Do it because not everyone gets the chance. Do it today because you’re still here. And do it with love because you have no idea how many people love you.
