I'm walking to remember those lost to suicide and help people in crisis

Every year, over 65,000 Australians attempt to take their own life and more than 3,000 lives are lost to suicide. That’s nine people, every single day.

For me, these aren’t just statistics - I’ve faced my own mental health battles and know what it’s like to feel like things will never get better. I also know how powerful it is when someone reaches out and says, “You’re not alone.” That support can be the difference between holding on and giving up.

On World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10), I’ll be taking part in Out of the Shadows, walking in honour of those nine lives lost each day, and for every person who is still fighting to stay here.

I’m walking to raise funds for Lifeline so they can keep answering the million-plus calls, texts, and chats they receive each year from Australians in crisis, and so that no one has to face their darkest moments without help.
