My Lived Experience
In 2022, I attempted suicide, and I thank god everyday that I survived. Every year over 65,000 Australians also attempt to take their lives, with 3000 dying from suicide. I have been in contact with Lifeline during some of my darkest points, but I was subject to long wait times, caused by a lack of funding. Lifeline receives over 1 million contacts from people in crisis every year, and struggle to keep up with the demand.
I am taking part in Out of the Shadows on World Suicide Prevention Day and walking for the 9 people that lose their lives to suicide every day. I hope that by participating, I will raise funds for Lifeline to provide suicide prevention services and support for people like me in need of support.
It is highly important to me that we ensure that nobody has to face these dark moments alone, and Lifeline can work as a service that assures that.
My impact so far
I've raised $405 so far to answer 10 calls for Lifeline's crisis support hotline to connect and bring hope to people in crisis.
With your support, we can ensure that no person has to face their darkest moments alone.
